About Neshama

At the heart of Neshama is a constant dedication to supporting, strengthening and empowering mothers and couples in birth. I entered birthwork early 2023 as a loved one of mine entered her motherhood journey. She entered strong, encouraged, prepared, and yet looking for support, a listening ear, advocacy, and someone to lean on in that process. She knew what I think every mom knows; that every couple deserves support, every couple deserves an advocate, and every couple deserves evidence based education surrounding their options and each decision that they may anticipate to make for their birth and little one in labor and delivery. In supporting her that day a new world opened before me to the beauty of labor and delivery, the strength of each mother I support, and the depth of positive impact that support, preparation and an advocating voice can have in a delivery room. This quickly grew a passion in my heart that led to the birth of Neshama Birth Services, rooted and grounded in these emphases. I am passionate about evidence-based education leading up to birth that will empower parents to make fully informed decisions as they determine best routes for their family. I am passionate about supporting first-time parents (among others) as they embark on a new journey, and I am passionate that birth should be a beautifully empowering experience in which mom is supported through and through, never alone, and discovering the depth of strength she’s carried all along.

Neshama

"Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the (neshama) breath of life; and man became a living being." Genesis 2:7

Neshama, Hebrew for "breath" or "soul", is to me a constant reminder that each of us are fearfully and wonderfully made, chosen before time, wanted, and knit together in our mother's womb with intentional purpose for relationship with Him.

At the Heart of Neshama

My name is Janelle Moore

I've grown up in Arizona since early childhood and am in love with our Superstition mountains and the desert beauty around. My journey has taken me around the world and back learning to serve and work with children and adults, and I wouldn't take back a moment of any of it. I discovered the beauty of birth work while supporting a loved one in labor and have been honored to serve mamas and their little ones since. My heart in birth work is to create a supported space where mamas thrive. Where they are strengthened, supported, educated and encouraged in every way as they and their family welcome their littlest into the world. When not at a birth, preparing for birth or studying birth I'll typically be found working with kids, hiking, reading or learning to worship with my guitar.
